TLDR: Go to a nicer place for the same price or another lokanta for cheap eats. This isn't it. Found this place in a local's recommendations website, abd we'd been to a lokanta and enjoyed the expérience. We paid 1740 TLY for a plate of döner, two veggies and a rice. This is way too expensive, considering the food was reheated in the microwave before serving. The food would have been fine if it had been at typical lokanta prices, but this was too much for average food.
We had an excellent dining experience here in Üskudar, where we tried the Iskender kebab. The dish was outstanding — rich in flavor, perfectly prepared, and made with high-quality ingredients. The restaurant was very clean and well-maintained, which immediately made a great impression. What truly stood out was the service: the waiters were exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful, making us feel very welcome throughout our visit. Overall, everything from the food to the atmosphere reflected great quality. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine.
A cafeteria-style restaurant where you can enjoy home-style food. This restaurant is tucked inside a bustling little market, about 5 minutes walk from the ferry. Only locals eating there. To me, this is real Turkish food ! Delicious and comforting. Friendly chefs, helpful staff, great variety. Not expensive either. We also got complementary tea. Eat here when you visit Uskudar !
We stumbled upon this place by chance, and what a fantastic find! You go up to the counter and choose from a variety of homemade Turkish dishes — everything looked delicious and tasted even better. It’s authentic, comforting food done at its best. The staff didn’t speak much English, but they were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help us. To top it all off, they even served us a complimentary tea at the end. A true local gem — simple, genuine, and absolutely worth visiting!
