Galata Sunset Restaurant
Istanbul
Reviews
Galata Sunset Fish and Meat delivered one of the most memorable meals of my trip to Istanbul. The food was exceptionally fresh, the portions were massive, and everything was cooked with a light touch. The seafood was flavorful and perfectly prepared without being buried under excess batter or oil, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine through. What really stood out was the atmosphere. The environment was relaxed, welcoming, and refreshingly free of the aggressive touts you often find in busy tourist areas. Every member of the staff was genuinely hospitable and made us feel like valued guests rather than customers. To top it all off, they helped turn my birthday dinner into a truly special occasion, complete with sparklers and plenty of smiles. Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended if you’re looking for fresh seafood and authentic Turkish hospitality in Istanbul.
We booked this restaurant via WhatsApp a couple of weeks before arriving in Istanbul - we thought it could be busy with the great reviews and the fact it was a Saturday night. The restaurant is close to the Galata Tower end of the Galata bridge so for us this meant walking past loads of other restaurants hoping we had booked a good restaurant - we had! The staff were all very friendly and s we had booked in advance they wanted to give us one of the tables nearest the water. The view therefore was great. The menu is easy to follow and they showed us the fresh fish which were available to be cooked for us. In the end we chose plates of grilled anchovies and prawns to share between us as a starter and a one kilo sea bass to be grilled. The anchovies were great (not salted and oiled like we are used to) and could have easily eaten a lot more! The prawns were OK but not particularly flavoursome. The sea bass had been cooked beautifully and was nicely presented to allow for an almost bone free experience. A really good meal in a unique setting with fisherman trying their luck above us. Thoroughly recommended.
John was so great! I got the sea bass in tomato sauce with amazing views! This is right under the bridge so it’s a very unique Experiance walking over here and if you stay till dark, you can see it change colors! Such a beautiful city! They also have shisha so if you want to chill for a while you totally can! Even on a chilly day as they have great heaters outside! They even give you tea at the end while you watch these beautiful views
Besw diner for seafood and drinking. we went here for first night and came back here for third night as well. Karamari food match with alcohol fish tomato thingy is amazing and servers are so funny and friendly even for foreigner. absolutely good
Under the bridge in a strip of other restaurants, I chose Galata Sunset based on its great reviews, and was not disappointed! My first time eating the grilled sea bream, it was very delicious (i had to Google how to eat it haha, the skin is a delicacy and sooo good). The complimentary olive tapenade&fresh bread appetizer was much appreciated, and also the tea and baklava for dessert. It was very enjoyable watching the ferries come and go, as well as the fishing lines coming down from the top of the bridge.Thank you for a lovely meal.
