Ended up having breakfast here twice, once with our lovely tour guide and once on our own. Really enjoyed the food, Turkish breakfast is so interesting, something for everyone. Amazing deli inside as well food from all over Turkiye.
We stopped by for a quick breakfast and had a sandwich, which was freshly prepared and tasted great. The selection at the counter looked really tempting as well, especially the cheese and meat options. We'll definitely be back to try more next time! 😊
I stood there for a long time, unable to figure out how to order; the sales staff didn't understand English. But then, after 15 minutes, they came up to me and explained how to order. Then I sat down at my assigned table and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Here you can grab a snack or buy takeaway food, from olives to basturma, and everything is carefully packaged.
Namlı Gurme in Karaköy is one of Istanbul’s most well-known and dependable destinations for a rich traditional Turkish breakfast and high-quality charcuterie products. Backed by the long-established Namlı brand—widely trusted for its excellent sucuk, pastırma, sausages, and other delicatessen specialties—the restaurant successfully translates that reputation into a lively and satisfying dining experience. The selection is extensive, offering seemingly endless varieties of fine Turkish charcuterie alongside classic breakfast dishes prepared with fresh and carefully sourced ingredients. Everything feels authentic, flavorful, and well-executed, which explains why the restaurant remains consistently popular with locals as well as visitors. Located in the heart of bustling Karaköy, the restaurant is easy to reach by public transportation and perfectly positioned for a breakfast or brunch stop while exploring the area. The atmosphere is energetic and unmistakably urban—a classic busy walk-in establishment immersed in the daily rhythm and hustle of Istanbul. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available, though the venue can become quite crowded during peak breakfast hours. Service is generally efficient and well-organized considering the constant flow of guests, and the overall operation reflects the confidence of a long-standing and trusted food brand. Tip: Arrive early on weekends if possible, as waiting times can grow quickly during brunch hours. Come hungry and plan to spend approximately $25–30 per person for a full traditional Turkish breakfast experience with premium charcuterie selections. Do not leave without trying the pastırma and sucuk specialties for which Namlı is especially known.
There’s a simple rule when traveling: if locals are packed outside a spot, you’re in the right place. That was exactly the case at Namlı Gurme—a definite green flag. I stopped in ahead of my dinner at Karaköy Lokantası, looking for something light so I wouldn’t spoil my appetite. Not the easiest task here. The selection is extensive and genuinely tempting—everything from sliced pastrami, izgara antrikot, köfte, pirzola, tavuk göğüs with fries, olives, cheeses, kebabs, eggs, to Turkish coffee and tea. This is Turkish breakfast done right, and it shows. Knowing I had a full dinner ahead, I kept it simple: a charcuterie-style plate with cucumbers, cheeses, olives, paired with tea and simit. Before settling in, I asked if there was a quieter place to sit, and the host kindly guided me toward a tucked-away spot near the back, closer to the kitchen. It was a perfect contrast to the lively energy at the entrance—calmer, more intimate, and ideal for a solo moment. The simit stood out immediately—freshly baked, warm, and aromatic. That first bite carried that unmistakable yeasty depth, perfectly textured, and paired effortlessly with the cheese. One of those simple pleasures that sticks with you. A small dish, but it delivered a lasting impression. Service matched the tone of the space. I was looked after by an older gentleman—soft-spoken, attentive, and respectfully unobtrusive. We didn’t exchange many words, but his calm presence added to the experience. There’s something to be said about service that allows you to simply exist in the moment, uninterrupted but supported. It ended up being the ideal prelude to my evening—light, intentional, and rooted in local authenticity. I left appreciating the restraint I showed, though next time I’ll be coming back with a full appetite to properly experience the quintessential Turkish breakfast. A thoughtful, memorable stop that I’d gladly return to.
