Reviews
A wonderful Turkish breakfast with a magnificent view.
Big Chefs Anadolu Hisarı is one of those places that reminds you why Turkish breakfast is considered an experience rather than merely a meal. Perched along the Bosphorus in one of Istanbul’s most charming waterfront neighborhoods, it combines excellent food, beautiful scenery, and warm hospitality into an outing that is worth planning your morning around. The location is exceptional. Overlooking the Bosphorus, the restaurant offers a relaxing and picturesque setting where ferries, fishing boats, and passing ships provide a constantly changing backdrop. The terrace is particularly enjoyable, allowing guests to fully appreciate the beauty of Istanbul while enjoying one of Turkey’s most beloved culinary traditions. We opted for the legendary Turkish serpme kahvaltı (traditional spread breakfast), and it was nothing short of spectacular. As Turks like to say, it included everything except “bird’s milk.” The variety seemed endless: cheeses, olives, jams, honey, fresh vegetables, breads, pastries, eggs, and numerous other breakfast specialties arrived one after another. The portions were so generous that we could not finish everything that was served, despite our best efforts. Every item tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and reflective of the quality ingredients for which Turkish breakfast is renowned. The ambiance strikes a wonderful balance between stylish and comfortable. Whether you are visiting with family, friends, or out-of-town guests, the setting encourages you to slow down, relax, and enjoy the experience. Service was equally impressive. A special thank you goes to Ayşegül, who looked after our table with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Together with the stunning Bosphorus views, she helped make our visit especially memorable and left us wanting to return again. What impressed us most was how seamlessly everything came together: the location, the atmosphere, the food, and the service. Each element complemented the others to create an experience that felt distinctly Istanbul. Tip: Weekend mornings are particularly popular, so arriving early or making a reservation is a good idea. If weather permits, request a table on the terrace overlooking the Bosphorus. Come hungry—the serpme kahvaltı is extremely generous and is best enjoyed leisurely over a couple of hours. After breakfast, take a stroll along the waterfront and explore the charming Anadolu Hisarı neighborhood and its historic fortress. If you are visiting Istanbul, do not leave without experiencing a traditional Turkish serpme breakfast. And if you are looking for a venue that showcases this beloved tradition at its best, Big Chefs Anadolu Hisarı is an outstanding choice and a perfect way to crown your journey through one of the world’s most iconic cities.
Very nice place to visit, very good food and family friendly . In case you want to enjoy the view come before sunset 🌅
Big Chefs Anadolu Hisarı is one of the most scenic dining spots on the Asian side of Istanbul, perfectly positioned right where the Göksu River meets the Bosphorus. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building near the Küçüksu Pavilion, it offers a stunning waterfront view that makes it a premier destination for a long, lazy Turkish breakfast or a romantic sunset dinner. The menu is a diverse blend of "world cuisine" and Turkish favorites, featuring everything from hearty serpme breakfast spreads and bazlama toasts to gourmet burgers and fresh seafood salads. While the atmosphere is undeniably upscale and breezy—especially on the outdoor terrace—the service can be hit-or-miss during peak weekend hours due to its immense popularity. Despite the crowds, the combination of the cool Bosphorus breeze and the sight of the historic fortress across the water makes it a quintessential Istanbul experience!
Our new favourite Big Chefs branch. The view is breathtaking, the service is excellent and the food we ordered was so good. We had the snacks tray, sizzling burger with cheese sauce and lasagna. This branch is so close to Vaniköy branch but less crowded and we actually found the view nicer. Highly recommended!
