Description
Meeting your licensed local guide at 6:00 PM, you’ll explore the historic heart of the city during the cooler, quieter hours of the evening. This small-group tour offers a calm pace, rich historical narration, and plenty of opportunities to capture Istanbul’s landmarks in beautiful evening light.
Your walk begins at the elegant German Fountain, a gift from Germany during the Ottoman era, before continuing to the courtyard of the iconic Blue Mosque, where your guide explains its architectural and cultural significance from outside.
Stroll through the ancient Hippodrome of Constantinople, once the political and social center of the Byzantine Empire, and learn the stories behind its surviving monuments. The route then leads to the tranquil Little Hagia Sophia Mosque, one of the city’s oldest Byzantine structures, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing break with traditional Turkish tea in a historic setting.
Continuing through the colorful Arasta Bazaar, you arrive at Hagia Sophia Square. Here, your guide clearly explains the three major historical phases of Hagia Sophia—its transformation from church to mosque, later museum, and today an active mosque—without entering the building, allowing you to avoid ticket and security lines.
Along the way, admire the graceful Fountain of Sultan Ahmed III, hear stories about Topkapi Palace from the outside, and learn how the city’s underground water system operated at the famous Basilica Cistern.
Stand beside the legendary Milion Stone, once considered the center of the Roman world, and conclude your journey at the Column of Constantine, dating back nearly 1,700 years to the founding of Constantinople.
This evening walking tour is ideal for first-time visitors, couples, and travelers seeking a relaxed, story-driven experience with more sightseeing and less waiting.
