Dining at Gallada at The Peninsula Istanbul for my birthday was an experience defined as much by hospitality as it was by cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the service set an exceptional standard. Soner and Okan were the true highlights of the evening—gracious, attentive, and effortlessly professional. Their warmth and genuine care transformed the celebration into something memorable, striking that rare balance between refined service and heartfelt hospitality. They anticipated every detail and ensured that my birthday felt truly special. The setting itself is remarkable. Perched above the Bosphorus, Gallada offers breathtaking panoramic views, complemented by elegant interiors that blend contemporary sophistication with understated luxury. The atmosphere alone makes it a destination worth experiencing. The culinary journey, however, was somewhat more nuanced. While the menu is thoughtfully curated, several dishes felt familiar in concept, and a few lacked the depth of flavor or boldness one might expect from a restaurant of this caliber. At times, the seasoning leaned too restrained, leaving certain plates pleasant rather than truly memorable. Where Gallada truly excelled was in its signature dishes. The Black Cod was beautifully executed, perfectly balanced and delicately rich, while the Lamb Shashlik Kebab showcased outstanding technique and depth of flavor. The desserts were the undeniable finale of the evening. Both the Baklava and the Matcha Cream Caramel demonstrated creativity, precision, and a successful fusion of tradition with modern interpretation. These courses were easily the standout moments of the entire meal. Overall, Gallada delivered a dining experience that was enjoyable, elegant, and unquestionably elevated by its world-class hospitality. While the cuisine did not consistently reach the extraordinary level I had anticipated, the restaurant shows immense potential, and its strongest dishes hint at the brilliance it is capable of achieving.
Great food, great service. You must definitely try oysters. The only small complaint of the tasting menu would be “size”. In my opinion one more course could be added.
This was truly the BEST culinary experience we had in Turkey! Superbly excellent service, location, views, and sumptuous food ❣️ We all had the "Journey" tasting menu, which was totally worth it and all the courses were so so delicious. All of the staff were so helpful and accommodating (they even cleaned and cut fruit for us that we brought from the market -- which was so sweet and kind!). Looking forward to coming back here some day! 10 out of 10 🏆
We ate Gallada during our stay and The Pen. Another great restaurant to try in Istanbul a new take on Turkish cuisine melded with Asian. As to be expected, service was very good.
A Silk Road Odyssey: Unforgettable Dining at GALLADA Dining at GALLADA is far more than a meal; it is a curated exploration of historical flavor led by the visionary, globally renowned Chef Fatih Tutak. Situated within the palatial confines of The Peninsula Istanbul, with the majestic Bosphorus acting as its dramatic, ever-shifting backdrop, GALLADA offers a unique gastronomic experience that charts the ancient Silk Road. The celebratory menu draws inspiration from captivating flavors stretching from Türkiye through Central Asia all the way to China, all served within a vibrant atmosphere that truly takes you on a journey of the senses. Our epicurean adventure began with a starter that instantly redefined flavor contrast: Tuna belly served with an unexpected, yet brilliant, mustard ice cream, delicate quail egg, and a crowning layer of oscietra caviar. It was a thrilling juxtaposition of temperatures and textures. Moving to the "Dough" section, the mastery continued with exquisite, translucent dumplings. The Kagoshima Wagyu beef dumpling was an explosion of rich, savory umami that practically melted on the tongue, while the Steamed shrimp dumpling, enhanced by even more oscietra caviar, offered a delicate, sophisticated pop of maritime freshness. The centerpiece of the main course was a dish of staggering opulence and technique: Wok-fried whole blue lobster. This wasn't merely seafood; it was a complex narrative served alongside laghman noodles—a beautiful nod to the heart of Central Asian cuisine—and a rich tomato base. To elevate the experience to the absolute peak of luxury, we added 30g of oscietra caviar, turning the dish into a masterclass of indulgent dining. The combination of the smoky wok-hei, the springy noodles, and the saline complexity of the caviar was, quite simply, unforgettable. To conclude this sensory odyssey, we opted for a dessert of refined simplicity. The Frozen chocolate mousse, accented with fragrant, high-quality Madagascar vanilla, provided a clean, elegant, and comforting finish to an evening of intense and varied flavors. In summary, GALLADA is an immersive cultural and culinary pilgrimage on the shores of Istanbul, proving exactly why Chef Fatih Tutak is revered on the global stage.
