Tükkan Karaköy

We were just walking by and thought this looked like a nice breakfast spot, so we decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, the restaurant was completely empty. We were the only two customers, yet the service was still terrible. Nobody came to check on us the entire time. Every time we ran out of bread or tea, we had to get up, go inside, and find the waiter ourselves to ask for more. It happened over and over again. I honestly don’t understand how the service can be this bad when there are only two guests in the entire restaurant. The food was decent, but the lack of attention completely ruined what could have been a nice breakfast.
Tukkan is one of my favorite spots in Karaköy. The food is consistently delicious, the cuisine is distinctive, and the staff are always incredibly polite and warm. I make it a point to visit every time I’m in the area.
Good restaurant (among many others in the laneway) back from the waterfront. Serves traditional breakfast, meze, fries, salads, burgers and wraps, pizza, pasta, kebabs and pide, tea/coffee, desserts, and alcohol (beer, wine, spirits). Ordered: Grilled meatballs (delicious, tender) and caprese salad (came with pesto dressing and avocado), nice and light. Serves cold Efes! Nice to sit outside and watch the tourists pass by and the restaurant touts in action. Staff were friendly and efficient, and didn’t lunge out at us when we walked past. Settled bill via credit card. Open 10am weekdays until very late, and 9am until late weekends.
