We had a wonderful stay at The Galata Hotel Istanbul and left with memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. The location was ideal for us. We spent our days exploring Istanbul on foot and by ferry, and the hotel was perfectly situated for both. The staff were consistently welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel genuinely well looked after. What made this hotel truly special for us, however, was the upgrade and the terrace of the Galata Suite. The view over the city was absolutely beautiful, especially at night. During our stay, I actually proposed to my fiancée there, and I honestly could not have imagined a more perfect setting. Looking out over Galata Tower and Istanbul's skyline, with the lights of the city around us, made the moment unforgettable. Because of that, this hotel will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Whenever we think about our trip to Istanbul, The Galata Hotel will be one of the first things that comes to mind. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable stay. We hope to return one day and relive some of those wonderful memories.

Absolutely recommended We held our group retreat at this hotel, and the contact started months in advance – above all with Mr Başar Bey. From the very first moment: friendly, attentive and thoroughly professional. The preparation beforehand was a top-class effort, exactly how you'd hope it would be. The check-in was fantastic, with a warm welcome for our whole group – a really lovely arrival. The rooms were beautiful, luxurious and spotlessly clean. The location is unbeatable: right in the centre, next to the Galata Tower and the Galata Bridge, by the harbour with the ferries. Restaurants and everything else are all within walking distance. The hotel was ideal for our conference too: the meeting room was fantastic for our purposes, and the catering in the room left nothing to be desired. For smaller groups – there were eight of us – I can highly recommend it, a true retreat and an oasis in the middle of the city. A special highlight is the historic hamam – a real blessing to have something like that on site, genuinely impressive. We made good use of it, along with the gym and the fitness facilities – everyone in our group found something for them. And on the upper floor there's a bar with a view over the Istanbul skyline – phenomenal. Breakfast was excellent – a wonderful selection of Turkish specialities, from the classic morning soups to many kinds of olives, fruit and anything else you could wish for. Even the lunches we booked as part of our conference felt like a three-course meal with dessert. I'll be back – next time with my family.
Me and my wife stayed for 7 nights. The location is superb and our room was with the galata tower view. We were greeted daily by Sherbano at breakfast. She was the epitome of hospitality at its best. The service generally was brilliant. Our checkout time was well before the breakfast time. But the reception team thoughtfully prepared breakfast boxes for us. Just cannot praise the staff enough. Definitely going back to istanbul and stay at this hotel again.
So, this was my second time in Istanbul, and since I know and love the city, I was coming in with pretty high expectations. As an Accor member, I’ve been dying to try out the MGallery selection, thinking I’d be treated to that signature, seamless 5-star hospitality. Sadly, the biggest letdown wasn't the city—it was the customer care. When I checked in, I flashed my membership and asked about an upgrade. Now, good customer service means making a guest feel valued, right? Instead, the team smiled, told me they were giving me a "better room," and handed over the keys... to a tiny, ground-floor accessible room. Look, unless someone actually needs an accessible room, stuffing a loyal member into a cramped ground-floor space and pitching it as a "better room" just feels like lazy customer care. It felt less like a 5-star welcome and more like, "Let's just put them wherever." To make matters worse, the attention to detail was totally missing. The quality of the room was entirely average, and the shower handle was completely broken. You’d think a luxury hotel would check these things before handing over the keys to a guest, but I guess not! I really wanted to love this place, but a 5-star rating requires 5-star service and care. Between the misleading room assignment and the broken bathroom, The Galata Hotel has officially been crossed off my Istanbul list. Next time, I'll be taking my Accor points somewhere that feels a bit more welcoming!
