Description
The experience begins at the entrance, where a spacious lobby with a high ceiling signals the start of your disconnection from the outside world.
1. Welcome and Preparation (Camekan / Changing Room)
At reception, choose services such as body scrub, foam, massage, and oil therapy. You then move to a private locker room to change into a bathrobe, receive slippers (takunya), and towels before entering the hot section.
2. Warming Up and Getting Used to It (Warmth)
This intermediate warm area helps your body gradually adapt to the temperature. You sit by a basin and pour warm water over yourself using copper bowls to prepare for the heat.
3. Purification and Sweating (Heat)
The main area features a marble-covered, domed room with steamy air. Lie on the heated marble platform (tummy stone) to relax your muscles and sweat out toxins. Soft light filters through small dome windows while water droplets echo softly, setting a meditative mood.
4. Scrub and Foam Massage
- Scrub: A tellak or natir exfoliates your skin with a rough glove, removing dead skin.
- Foam Bath: Soap foam is poured over you, followed by a massage with natural soap scent.
- Rinsing: You are rinsed thoroughly with hot water.
5. Cooling and Rest
After the bath, you dry off and wrap yourself in soft towels. Relax on sun loungers while your body returns to normal temperature. A towel is typically wrapped around your head at this stage.
6. Refreshments and Closure
Rehydrate with ice-cold ayran, mineral water, or fresh fruit juice. Some locations offer Turkish coffee. Once cooled, you get dressed and leave feeling refreshed. It is customary to wrap up well after leaving to avoid wind chill since your pores remain open.
