Influenced by early Christian thinkers such as Basil the Great, the site was a center for monastic education and religious thought.
Key churches to visit are the Dark Church, St. Basil’s Church, and Tokalı Church, each with distinctive architectural and artistic features. Since opening in 1967, the museum provides insight into the region’s spiritual and cultural traditions.
