Description
Your day begins with hotel pick-up in Istanbul, followed by a transfer to Istanbul Airport (IST or SAW) for a morning flight to Izmir. Flight details and pick-up times will be provided in your confirmation email.
Upon arrival at Izmir Airport, your guide will meet you and drive approximately 45 minutes to Ephesus. The tour starts with a visit to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
In Ephesus, walk along the marble streets lined with significant structures including the State Agora, Odeon, Memnius Monument, Temple of Domitian, Polio Fountain, Curetes Street, and the Grand Theater, which dates back to the 3rd century B.C. and was expanded by the Romans to hold 24,000 spectators.
Lunch is served in the garden of a local handicrafts center where you can observe traditional carpet weaving techniques and view various carpets.
After lunch, visit the House of Virgin Mary on Aladag Mountains, about 5 miles from Ephesus. This site is considered the place where Mary lived until her death and has been a pilgrimage destination since its recognition in the late 19th century. It was visited by Pope Paul VI in 1967.
Following the visit, return to Izmir Airport for your flight back to Istanbul. Upon landing, you will be transferred back to your original pick-up location.
