The funeral of Afife Jale, Türkiye's first Muslim stage actress, who died on July 24, 1941, at the age of 39 in Bakırköy Mental and Nervous Diseases Hospital. The photograph shows Behzat Butak and Sait Köknar, legends of Turkish theater. The child in the photo is Sait Bey's son, Ergun Köknar, a future great actor. This grave in Kazlıçeşme was previously known to be lost. In 2023, 82 years after her death, actor and theater historian Boğos Çalgıcıoğlu identified the grave by estimating its location from this photograph taken at Jale's funeral. Although the exact location of Jale's grave remains uncertain, research has concluded that her remains were buried in the section for the poor.
The stage is very small and low down. It's difficult to see the stage from the back unless you're watching from the front. Legroom is good. The location is excellent. Close to the beach.
