Description
Make the most of your trip to the Rumeli Fortress with our audio guide, offering a complete tour of the fortress's grandeur. This experience gives you the priority to skip the ticket lines. The Rumeli Fortress, located in the Sariyer District of Istanbul, was constructed by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1452 with the aim of preventing aid from reaching the city from the north of the Bosphorus and defending it during a siege. Erected in just four months, the fortress is located directly across from the Anadolu Fortress, covering an area of 30 decares and featuring three large towers and walls, four main gates, and a secondary gate known as the Cemetery Gate. Additionally, the fortress has a total of four towers and a museum garden displaying cannons, roses, terracotta, stone works, and a portion of the chain that supposedly sealed off the Golden Horn. Due to restoration work, only the garden of Rumeli Fortress is open to visitors at the moment. You can explore the garden, view the historic cannons and ammunition, and enjoy the lovely views. There are also areas where you can sit and relax. Additionally, you can visit the mosque built on top of the Rumeli Fortress theater.
