Description

Day 1 – Ancient Hipodrome – Blue Mosque – St. Sophia – Topkapi palace with HAREM – Grand Bazaar Your private guide will meet you at Istanbul port or hotel with a sign written “ Your Name “ on it, anytime you want . The only city in the world located on two continents is Istanbul, which has been the capital of three great empires – Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman – for more than 2000 years. Our tour starts with Hippodrome Square where used to take place for chariot races and the Byzantine riots during Roman & Byzantine period. Only a short walk away, reaches Hagia Sophia built in 532 AD by Roman Emperor Justinian I. and Blue Mosque, has its fame from its beautiful blue Iznik tiles. We will continue walking to Topkapi Palace, was not only the residence of the Ottoman sultans, but also the administrative and educational center of the state. It was constructed between 1460 and 1478 by Sultan Mehmed II, the conqueror of Constantinople. We will visit the Topkapi Palace including weapons section and HAREM After that, we will visit Grand Bazaar where is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with more than 58 covered streets and over 1,200 shops which attract between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily. Opened in 1461, it is well known for its jewelry, pottery, spice, and carpet shops. Drive back to the port. Tour Duration : Approx. 7 Hours Day 2 – Underground Cistern – Suleymaniye Mosque – Spice Market – Golden Horn You will meet with your guide at Istanbul Port and drive to Underground Cistern which was the largest covered water reservoir in Istanbul, built by Justinian I. than having free time in Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar): The air here is filled with the enticing aromas of cinnamon, caraway, saffron, mint, thyme and every other conceivable herb and spice. Süleymaniye Mosque the mosque of Süleyman the Magnificent was built between 1550 and 1557 by the famous architect Sinan whose wish was to surpass the builders of St. Sophia which is conspicuous from its great size, emphasized by the four minarets rising one from each corner of the courtyard. Drive back to the port through Golden Horn. The end of our services. Tour Duration : Approx. 4 Hours Update for St. Sophia interior visit : Live guiding is not allowed in St. Sophia after the 15th January 2024. Guests have to have their smart phones and headphones during their visit. If guests do not have a headphone, they can buy at the entrance. The system is similar to audio guide system. Guests who does not have smart phones will follow the signs and the given informations on the signs .

Important Information

  • Depending on availability in domestic flights and public holidays, the itinerary can be re-routed between Cappadocia airport on Day 3 to Izmir airport on Day 6 and the reverse itinerary without changing any site visits, hotel accommodations, and other service standards
  • Saturday arrivals : Istanbul tour will be at the end of the tour on Friday. Istanbul to Izmir flight will be on Day 2.
  • The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays so the Spice Market will be visited instead
  • Depending on flight and hotel availabilities, a reverse itinerary can be organized
  • Details itinerary will be emailed after booking
  • The Istanbul tour will be at the end of the tour on the Sunday departure tours
