The place is not super bad, but I think the high rating is only because of good location and very nice staff (speaking little English, but very welcoming). If you're booking the top floor room - keep in mind that the ceiling is VERY low (speaking as an average hight person) and there is no elevator going to the top floor. The view is nice. I guess this hotel is very old as you can see the furnitures are worn out. The hygiene is questionable - I don't think the shower hasn't been cleaned after the previous guest (ok, maybe actually this place is bad 😭), during my stay the room cleaning was very superficial. I booked it only because of location and the fact there was a desk with a chair inside as I was planning to work a bit, but sadly the WiFi was horrible. A good think was that check-out is at 12 noon so you have quite some time on your check-out day.
I absolutely loved my stay here. I’ll be honest, I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, but the moment I arrived my doubts disappeared. The room was clean, comfortable, and the heated bathroom floor was a really nice touch. The staff were honestly the highlight. So warm and genuine that I even asked if they owned the place. They really make you feel at home. The location is perfect. Right at the start of Taksim, quiet and completely safe, and less than a 5-minute walk to Galata Tower. The area has shops, cafés, restaurants, and beautiful alleys that are fun to walk around and explore. The value for money is amazing. You truly get more than what you pay for. I would definitely stay here again. I don’t think I want to try any other hotel in Istanbul.
