George’s Galata was a beautiful and elegant hotel in a fantastic location. Despite being right in the heart of the city, it was incredibly peaceful and quiet. It was an easy walk to excellent restaurants and the Galata Tower, while still being away from the busiest tourist crowds. The tram and ferry connections were also very convenient, making it easy to explore Sultanahmet and other parts of Istanbul. What really made our stay special was the staff. Everyone was genuinely warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. They took the time to give us thoughtful recommendations on where to eat and what to see, which made our trip even more enjoyable. We also loved being greeted by the hotel’s adorable house cat, Lollipop, who was always happy to accept a few pats and added an extra touch of charm to our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend George’s Galata to anyone visiting Istanbul.
This is a beautiful hotel with an incredible rooftop view. Perfect location to explore Galata. But, kind of a missed opportunity. We went up for evening cocktails and they are $24 USD so wife and daughter opted for tea and I got a $19 USD glass of wine. And breakfast is double what the cute cafes around charge so we never ate there. With so many places to get drinks for 1/3 the price just doesn’t make sense. The view is worth a little premium but not that steep.
The hotel is in a great location, with many attractions and neighborhoods easily accessible on foot. The property itself is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious, with high ceilings that add a lot of charm. The bathroom also had great potential, but unfortunately the shower tap was not functioning properly, and water leaked onto the floor without draining correctly. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. Complimentary instant coffee was supposed to be provided, but it was missing from our room, so we used the espresso machine instead and were later charged for it. In addition, the breakfast prices were so high that it didn’t make sense to dine at the hotel. That’s regrettable, because with more reasonable pricing we likely would have spent more time enjoying the hotel’s restaurant and services.
The Georges Hotel is located in the Galata area close to restaurants, cafés and shopping. It is located in an charming, historical building. Staff in the reception are very helpful. We were particularly delighted about the friendly assistance of Yasin. Breakfast is served in the rooftop restaurant; however, it is prohibitively expensive. We also experienced interruptions to the water supply and a shortage of towels.
We were there for a short business lunch. In the end we had 3 outstanding spicy cocktails and a clubsandwich. Both the bartender and owner were very nice and helped us also with some tourists questions. However all of that was nice but did not really matter. The real star was the view. We stayed for almost two hours just watching. Totally worth it!
